Shukri Conrad Appointed As South Africa’s Head Coach For White-Ball Formats

South Africa Cricket Board appointed Shukri Conrad as the new head coach for South Africa’s senior men’s team in the white-ball formats (ODI and T20I) on 9 May 9 2025. This is a crucial appointment for CSA as the country prepares to host the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.
Shukri Conrad Replaces Rob Walter
Conrad replaced Rob Walter, who left the position in April 2025 for personal reasons. Conrad will now manage the South African side in both ODI and T20I forms till the 2027 World Cup. He will work closely with the next selection convener, who has yet to be named. CSA has already accepted applications for the job, and the new selection convener will be announced shortly.
Shukri Conrad’s Coaching Journey and Experience
Before taking on this job, Shukri Conrad was the head coach of South Africa’s Test team. He took over this post in September 2022, after Mark Boucher left. Boucher had previously overseen all three formats, but the CSA decided to select separate coaches for Test and white-ball cricket, resulting in Conrad’s appointment to the Test team.
Conrad is also a former First-Class cricketer and played from 1985 to 1991, during which he played nine domestic matches for South Africa.
