SL vs PAK: There was a magnificent all-round show by Sri Lanka, which helped them beat Pakistan by 14 runs in a rain-reduced, highly impressive match, thus levelling the series. In a match that had 12 overs per side due to a long rain delay, a straight run-fest ensued, in which boundaries poured in and bowlers struggled to keep things under control on a wetted-out field.

Despite the spirited effort at chasing the runs, thanks to the best possible cameo performance from Salman Agha, Lanka showed composure in their wickets, with the best possible contributions from Wanindu Hasaranga, who bowled aggressively.

Sri Lanka Batters Unleash Carnage in Shortened Game

Sri Lanka, batting first, went as fast as a bullet to reach a formidable 160/6 in 12 overs, scoring at an incredible rate of 13.3 runs per over. Contributions came from across the lineup, with multiple batters chipping in with quickfire knocks.

SL vs PAK: Key Batting Contributions

Dasun Shanaka: 34 off 9 balls

Kusal Mendis, Kamil Mishara, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka & Janith Liyanage: All provided rapid runs

By the time Shanaka arrived at the crease, Sri Lanka were already well placed at 100/5 after 8.5 overs.

Shanaka’s Explosive Finish Changes the Game

Being under pressure since regaining his captaincy role, Dasun Shanaka made a captain’s knock. When only 19 balls were left, he converted a good total into a intimidating total. Smashed three sixes in a row in the final over.

Pakistan’s Chase: Agha Lights Up the Contest

Pakistan responded bravely, maintaining a scoring rate of 12.25 runs per over, keeping the pressure firmly on Sri Lanka.

Salman Agha’s Sensational Cameo

45 off just 12 balls

Hit three sixes and five fours.

Was dominated by Maheesh Theekshana and hit an audacious scoop shot off Matheesha

Agha looked as if he could do the chasing single-handedly; however, his collapse was the turning point for the Pakistani team as they came 14 runs short.

Hasaranga the Difference on a Turning Track

Despite the wet conditions making grip difficult, the Dambulla surface offered turn—and Wanindu Hasaranga exploited it brilliantly.

  • 4 wickets for 35 runs in 3 overs
  • All dismissals came from batters attempting big shots
  • His pace, variation, and turn broke Pakistan’s momentum at crucial stages

Hasaranga’s spell ensured Sri Lanka stayed ahead even as runs flowed freely.
