Watch as Rohit Sharma is left stunned and Hardik Pandya stares after Shubman Gill drops Head’s catch in the third ODI
Shubman Gill drops Head’s catch in the third ODI, leaving Rohit Sharma stunned and Hardik Pandya staring.
Australia made a strong start to their innings in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) against India in Chennai. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh added 68 runs for the first wicket before Hardik Pandya got the first wicket, dismissing Head on 33. However, Head had received a lifeline just a few deliveries before his dismissal when Shubman Gill’s valiant effort went in vain; the India youngster dropped his catch at deep square leg.
Even though Shubman made an impressive run to deep square leg, he eventually fell short; the India star attempted a dive forward but failed to grasp the delivery, as the ball raced towards the boundary for a four.

Pandya eventually dismissed Head off the fifth delivery of his over; this time, Head cut it towards third man, and Kuldeep Yadav, who was standing in the exact spot, made no mistake in judging the catch.
Pandya then dismissed captain Steve Smith for a duck in his next over, bringing India back into the game after Australia’s strong start.
Australia had previously won the toss and elected to bat in Chennai. India has fielded the same XI that suffered a humiliating 10-wicket loss to Australia in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam.

“We wanted to field first. It’s a big game, and the deciders are always exciting. It’s always a good idea to put us in situations like this. It will be difficult for us to come back and play good cricket under pressure. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to put our best foot forward,” Rohit Sharma said before the toss.
This will be India’s final match before the players return to their respective franchises for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, which kicks off on March 31.
