Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh. The team has made a few changes from the one that recently secured a 2-1 series win against England, aiming to continue their winning streak.

New names in the squad include Justin Greaves and wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo, who is yet to make his ODI debut. They replace Jewel Andrew and Hayden Walsh Jr., who have been left out. The three matches will be held at Warner Park, St. Kitts & Nevis, from December 8 to 12.

Despite being excluded, Jewel Andrew will attend a special camp in Chennai, India, designed to help regional players improve their skills against spin bowling. Justin Greaves earned his spot after an impressive performance in the CG United Super50 tournament, where he scored three consecutive centuries. He followed this up with a Test century against Bangladesh in the ongoing series.

Amir Jangoo also shone in the Super50 tournament, scoring 446 runs in seven innings at an average of 89.20, making him the highest run-scorer in the competition. Across 49 List A matches, the 27-year-old has amassed 1,397 runs at an average of 30.36.

Building for the Future

Head coach Darren Sammy emphasized the importance of preparing for the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup while maintaining focus on short-term goals like winning the series at home.

He explained, “We are working to expand our pool of players with the World Cup in mind. Justin Greaves is a versatile batter who can slot in anywhere in the top six and offers valuable all-round skills. Amir Jangoo’s success in the Super50 proves he can add another layer to our batting lineup.”

The West Indies are currently leading their Test series against Bangladesh, with the second Test taking place in Kingston, Jamaica.
