World Cup 2023 Qualifiers: Schedule, Venue and other details

ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers will begin on 18th June in Zimbabwe. Here is the schedule, venue and other details of the tournament.

The ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023 will begin in a couple of days in Zimbabwe. There are 10 teams who are participating in the Qualifiers for the World Cup in India which will be held later in the year. The 10 teams are split into two groups of five teams each.

Group A

  • Zimbabwe (Hosts)
  • Nepal 
  • West Indies
  • Netherlands
  • United States

Since 1983, Zimbabwe has missed out on the World Cup only once in 2019 they have already guaranteed their Qualification in 2027 as they are the hosts along with Namibia and South Africa. Nepal is yet to feature in the World Cup. West Indies has featured in every World Cup since its inception in 1975 and even won the first two editions in 1975 and 1979. The Netherlands participated in four World Cups in 1996, 2003, 2007 and 2011. The United States is yet to feature in a World Cup.

Group B

  • Ireland 
  • Oman
  • Scotland
  • Sri Lanka
  • United Arab Emirates

Ireland featured in three World Cups in 2003, 2007 and 2011. Oman is yet to feature in a World Cup. Scotland has also featured in three World Cups. Sri Lanka like West Indies has featured in every World Cup and even won the competition in 1996. The United Arab Emirates featured in 1996 and 2015.

Format of Cricket World Cup Qualifiers

The teams will play matches against their opponents in a round-robin format. The top three teams from each group will then qualify for Super Six. Those six teams will now play each other in a round-robin format. The top two teams from the Super Six will qualify for the  ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

Netherlands vs United States – 22 June

Sri Lanka vs Oman – 23 June

Scotland vs UAE – 23 June

Zimbabwe vs West Indies – 24 June

Netherlands vs Nepal – 24 June

Sri Lanka vs Ireland – 25 June

Scotland vs Oman – 25 June

Zimbabwe vs United States – 26 June

West Indies vs Netherlands – 26 June

Sri Lanka vs Scotland – 27 June

Ireland vs UAE – 27 June

Venue of Cricket World Cup Qualifiers

Group A will play all their matches in Harare. The two stadiums in Harare are Harare Sports Club and Takashinga Cricket Club. Group B teams will play in Bulawayo. The two stadiums in Bulawayo are Queens Sports Club and Bulawayo Athletic Club.
