Batting first after losing the toss, UP Warriorz managed to put a fighting total on the board of 166. Openers Kiran Navgire and Sweta Sehrawat gave their team a good start, with Navgire top-scoring with 51 runs. Sehrawat too contributed with a useful 37 runs, forging a partnership that gave the team a good foundation.

Grace Harris, aggressive in her batting, contributed 12 runs, but it was at the tail end that the side gained some more momentum. Chinelle Henry scored a brilliant quick-fire inning of 33 runs off a mere 15 deliveries, with 3 fours and an equal number of sixes. Withstanding some minor glitches, the Warriorz were able to post a decent total on the board.

Delhi Capitals’ Bowling Performance

The Delhi Capitals players were vehemently expressive, with Annabel Sutherland floating at the top of the lineup. She claimed 2 wickets and broke key partnerships in the UP Warriors’ innings. Sutherland was well supported by Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Arundhati Reddy, and Meenu Mani, each taking one wicket. The building bowling experience turned UP Warriors on their heads with respect to the run-rate and restricted them to 166 runs only.

Delhi Capitals’ Chase

With a goal of 167 runs, Delhi Capitals entered with purpose and initiated their chase in the latter part of the match. The chase was laid out perfectly by captain Meg Lanning, who contributed a match-winning innings of 69 runs. Her innings were calm and dependable, stabilizing the chase for her side.

Annabel Sutherland, who was the star along with the ball in the beginning, also starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 41*. Another key contribution to the chase was made by Marizanne Kapp, and she scored 29* undefeated as the Capitals won the game with one ball remaining.

UP Warriorz’ Bowling Performance

In their bid to protect the target, UP Warriors’ bowlers struggled hard but were unable to stem Delhi’s run. Sophie Aselton, Deepti Sharma, and Grace Harris all claimed a wicket, but it was not enough to deny Delhi the easy chase of the target in the last over. The chase pressure, as well as the good show by the Capitals’ middle order, helped them cross the line.

Delhi Capitals’ nail-biting pursuit of 167 runs gave them a hard-earned 7-wicket win against UP Warriorzin in this high-intensity game. Their captain Meg Lanning’s assured and calculated performance, along with key inputs from Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp, made Delhi win with one ball remaining.

For UP Warriorz, even strong individual efforts by their top order and a last-minute blitz by Chinelle Henry couldn’t prevent the Capitals’ persistent chase. This loss is UP Warriorz’s second in as many games in the tournament, while Delhi Capitals build momentum going deeper into the competition.
