AB de Villiers Shared An Emotional Message For Virat Kohli: On the night before the IPL 2025 Final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, AB de Villiers showed his support for his close friend and former teammate, Virat Kohli. With RCB just one win away from winning their first-ever IPL title, the South African legend, who played with the team for over ten years, shared an emotional message encouraging Kohli to enjoy and make the most of the moment.
AB de Villiers Backs Virat Kohli Ahead of IPL 2025 Final
AB de Villiers had earlier said he would join Virat Kohli on the field if RCB made it to the final. Now, with just hours to go, he is in Ahmedabad to keep that promise.
Before the IPL 2025 final, De Villiers wants Kohli to step onto the field at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3 and simply enjoy the game. He hopes Kohli plays with a smile as he goes for the IPL trophy in the league’s 18th season.

In a video shared by Star Sports on X, de Villiers said, “My message to Virat is to go out and enjoy and have fun out there. Put a smile on your face. I will be there watching you. Bring that (IPL) trophy home. Enjoy every minute of it.”
Punjab Kings and RCB Set for High-Stakes Clash
The final, set for Tuesday (June 3) at the famous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, is a big moment for both teams. Punjab Kings reached the final after a thrilling five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. RCB, full of confidence and good form, has already beaten Punjab Kings twice this season. But as experienced players know, a final is a different challenge altogether.
Although RCB haven’t played in Ahmedabad this season, Kohli has done fairly well at this venue. He has scored 219 runs in six matches, with an average of over 50 and two half-centuries. However, he might want to improve his strike rate of 131.13, especially since the pitch often sees high scores, and even 200 runs might not be enough.
