WWE Facts That The Company Always Tries To Ignore
WWE has been full of glamour, drama and rich history. But its past also includes awkward and controversial incidents. From over 40 years of WrestleMania events to launching careers of Hollywood stars, WWE has become a global name in pop culture. But if you have been a WWE fan since the WWF days, you already know that many WWE weird moments happened which either were accidents or were ignored on purpose.
Whether it was backstage controversies, incomplete storylines or WWE untold stories with no proper end, the company often ignored them or never talked about them openly. In this article, we will talk about all such WWE facts that WWE has tried to forget or which fans never got a clear answer to.
Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar Match Used Real Names
The main event of WrestleMania 19 between Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar is not remembered only for the dangerous botched move. For the first time, WWE used two superstars with their real names in a main event. Lesnar’s shooting star press failed and he landed on his head and got a concussion. Even after that, the match continued and Angle who already had a fractured neck lost to Lesnar so the championship would go to him.
WWE never clearly said that both were using their real names, though usually wrestlers use character names.
WWE Invested In A Social App Called Tout
In 2012, WWE put $5 million into a short video app called Tout. Superstars started posting their 15 second videos and even did promos on it. Brock Lesnar also announced his kayfabe retirement on this app.
But after a few months, Tout lost popularity. By 2014, the platform was shut down. WWE never openly admitted that this was a failed investment.
Shane McMahon’s Lockbox Was Never Explained
During the WrestleMania 32 build up, Shane McMahon told his father Vince that he had a lockbox full of secrets. If Shane lost the match, the box would go to Vince.
Undertaker beat Shane in that match and the box went to Vince. But what was in the box was never revealed. A 2024 Fightful report said the whole idea was added last minute without a plan.
Kofi Kingston Dropped His Jamaican Accent Without Reason
When Kofi Kingston joined WWE, he used a Jamaican accent. But after an episode in 2009, the accent was suddenly gone without any reason. Triple H once casually said “Weren’t you Jamaican?” but WWE never explained this change.
Kofi later said that Vince McMahon told him to always speak with the accent in promos, but it was getting hard to keep it up. A BBC journalist also tried to expose Kofi’s real identity.
Royal Rumble Had Many Elimination Mistakes
One of the biggest WWE hidden secrets is the number of mistakes in Royal Rumble matches. In 1991, Randy Savage left without entering the ring. In 2019, Lana never entered the match officially but was replaced.
Curtis Axel was never eliminated in 2015, yet the storyline continued without him. WWE either ignored these mistakes or used them in storylines as if they were planned.
Women’s Money In The Bank Winners Cashed In Too Soon
Since 2017, most women who won the Money In The Bank briefcase cashed it in within one or two days. Only Carmella held it for the longest time of 287 days.
WWE never seriously spoke about this pattern. The recent winner Tiffany Stratton is also teasing a cash-in against Nia Jax but looking at the history, long briefcase holders are rare.
Roman Reigns Disappeared From TV In 2020
During the COVID time when WWE shows had no crowd, Roman Reigns took a break for the safety of his family. He was supposed to fight Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 but Braun Strowman replaced him.
But WWE never said on-air why Roman was missing. Only in 2022 when he tested positive for COVID, the company openly talked about health concerns.
Submission Sorority Name Was A Mistake
In 2015, WWE formed a new women’s team with Charlotte, Becky and Paige and called them Submission Sorority. But fans quickly found out that this name was also the name of an adult site.
WWE changed the name to PCB but never admitted this major branding mistake.
Emmalina Build-Up Ended Without A Real Run
From October 2016, WWE started promoting a new character called Emmalina. Vignettes ran for 17 weeks but when she finally appeared on TV, she gave only one promo and returned to the old Emma character.
The character felt forced and even Tenille Dashwood later said that the gimmick was not right for her.
Jake The Snake Never Won Any WWE Title
Legendary superstar Jake Roberts never won any championship in WWE. He became famous with his snake Damien and had many big rivalries, but never won gold.
WWE added him to the Hall of Fame but never explained why he never won a title.
A WWE Match Lasted Only 1.8 Seconds
In a 2000 episode, Jerry Lawler and Chris Jericho faced Tazz and Naked Mideon in a match that ended in 1.8 seconds. Before the match could start properly, the referee counted and Lawler pinned Tazz.
WWE never declared it as the shortest match officially, maybe because the match looked so confusing.
Double Royal Rumble Winners Happened Twice
In 1994, Bret Hart and Lex Luger were made co-winners on purpose. But in 2005, John Cena and Batista accidentally fell out of the ring at the same time. Vince McMahon came to restart the match and hurt both his legs in the process.
WWE never promoted the 1994 finish much but kept showing the 2005 mistake again and again.

WWE is full of entertainment and thrill but also full of secrets and WWE controversies. These WWE facts are important because they show how sometimes WWE makes decisions or plans things without telling fans.
Whether it’s storylines, character changes or business moves, WWE has many WWE hidden secrets that fans still want answers for.
