Where T20 World Cup 2028 Will Be Conducted? Now that the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has concluded, the excitement generated during its nearly three weeks played will be with us forever. The matches were incredibly well fought with many outstanding individual performances from players participating in the tournament across all continents in the world.

Finally, the India national cricket team was crowned the champion of the tournament. Under the leadership of the team’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team provided an outstanding performance to emerge victorious. With the tournament now over, the fans are already looking forward to the next edition of the tournament, the T20 World Cup 2028.

T20 World Cup 2028 Host Countries

Jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the T20 World Cup (11th edition) will take place under the authority of International Cricket Council (ICC) and will take place every two years.

For global cricket tournaments; both host countries have an extensive tradition of playing/involvement in cricket; They have the appropriate venues for hosting cricketing events; and; both countries possess modern facilities.

Expected Schedule for T20 World Cup 2028

It is not yet known when the T20 World Cup 2028 will take place, but based on the previous two editions of T20 World Cups the tournament may occur sometime between October and November 2028.

Start of tournament: Around the middle of October 2028

Final of tournament: Around the middle of November 2028

The International Cricket Council (ICC) will announce the official schedule and locations of matches participating in the T20 World Cup closer to the date of the tournament.

What is the Number of Teams Competing in T20 World Cup 2028?

Similar to the two previous editions of the tournament, the T20 World Cup 2028 will have 20 participating teams competing for the highly coveted trophy, giving both currently established and brand-new teams an opportunity to compete for a championship.

So far, a total of 12 teams have qualified for the upcoming tournament.

Remaining Qualification Spots

A total of 8 spots are still available for the T20 World Cup 2028. These will be filled by regional qualifying events held by the International Cricket Council. Different regional teams will participate in these qualifying events, and the winning teams will qualify for the main event.

Upcoming Major ICC Tournament Before T20 World Cup 2028

Prior to the next T20 World Cup, cricket enthusiasts are also going to witness the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, which will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

After the culmination of that tournament, the focus of the world will again turn towards the T20 World Cup 2028, in which the best cricket teams of the world will once again vie for the championship.
