Pakistan’s Islamabad United is a professional Twenty20 cricket team that competes in the Pakistan Super Tournament (PSL), the country’s premier cricket league. They have participated in the competition since its inaugural year, 2015, and they also won the title for the first time. Rawalpindi serves as their home turf, and they are the city of Islamabad’s representatives on the team. Amna Naqvi and Ali Naqvi currently control Leonine Global Sports, the sports division of Leonine Global Investments LGI, which means that Leonine Global Investments LGI owns the entire franchise. They haven’t seen any owner changes up until this point. Since 2015, Leonine Global Sports has become the franchise owner after purchasing it for $15 Million.

Pakistan’s previous captain, Misbah-Ul-Haq, was named the team’s leader in 2015 when it was first founded. They went 4-for-8 in the league and had to go through the playoffs to get to the championship game. After beating Quetta Gladiators by six wickets in Dubai, they took home the trophy. Islamabad finished fourth in 2016–17 but then won PSL 3 the following year, giving them back-to-back championships. Following Haq’s injury during one of the regular season games, JP Duminy took over as captain for the championship game that year.
