BCCI announce India’s squad for the test match series against New Zealand at home
BCCI ,after announcing India’s T20Is squad against New Zealand, has now released the squad for Tests matches. Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in the 1st Test in Kanpur.
On Friday, 12th November 2021, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for Tests against New Zealand for the upcoming home series.
New Zealand’s Tour of India will consist of 3 T20Is and 2 Test Matches, the series will begin with T20Is starting on 17th November, just after the 2021 T20 World Cup.
The list of India’s squad for Tests against New Zealand was announced on BCCI’s official website, confirming that, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand.”

Fixture & Schedule – New Zealand’s Test Tour of India | 2021-22
1st Test from 25th Nov 2021, Thursday at Kanpur.
2nd Test from 3rd Dec 2021, Friday at Mumbai.
India’s Test squad: Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Md. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna.
BCCI further mentioned that “Virat Kohli will join the squad for the second Test and will lead the team.”
However, for the Test Series Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have all been rested. Whereas, Shreyas Iyer is back in the Test squad along with off-spinner Jayant Yadav.
Earlier, BCCI announced the T20Is Squad – stating that Rohit Sharma will lead the T20I Team. Virat Kohli,along with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja are rested for the T20Is Series.
Meanwhile, this series will be the first assignment for Rahul Dravid as Team India’s Head Coach. For New Zealand, however, Devon Conway has been ruled out of the series due to a hand injury.
