BCCI Announces New Secretary And Treasurer
BCCI Announces New Secretary and Treasurer, Saikia to Replace Jay Shah, Bhatia Named Treasurer.

In a significant development in the Indian cricket administration, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the names of the officials who will take over key posts following the recent leadership changes. The interim secretary since Jay Shah’s departure to become the ICC Chairman is confirmed as the next permanent secretary of the BCCI. Meanwhile, Prabhtej Bhatia from the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association has filed his nomination to take over as the new treasurer of the board, filling the vacancy left by Ashish Shelar, who was recently appointed as a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government.
Devjit Saikia Officially BCCI Secretary

For weeks now, the BCCI secretary’s position has been surrounded by much speculation. Several cricket administrators, including Anil Patel, the secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), were in the running for the post. But that speculation came to an end when Devjit Saikia filed his nomination for the post, thus cementing his position as the new BCCI secretary.
Saikia had been the acting secretary since December 1, after Jay Shah had been elevated as the ICC Chairman. As acting secretary, Saikia had already shown good organizational ability and was very much in contention for the full-time position. His nomination made him the only candidate for the post of official secretary to the BCCI.
Prabhtej Bhatia Named Treasurer Candidate

In the second important news, Prabhtej Bhatia, a representative of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association, filed his nomination as treasurer. This position had become vacant with the resignation of Ashish Shelar after he accepted the position of cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government recently.
Bhatia has been the single nominee for the treasurer’s post, and with no other applicant, his candidature is naturally unopposed. The BCCI treasurer post is one that deals with finance and resource administration of the board, and Bhatia, a cricket administrator from Chhattisgarh who has experience managing finances in that association, is also considered a strong candidate for the post since he has considerable administrative experience behind him.
Process of Election and Nomination Description
The election for the key positions in the BCCI was conducted as per the election schedule announced on the official website of the board. Nomination papers could be submitted until 4 pm on Saturday, and only two candidates, namely Devjit Saikia and Prabhtej Bhatia, submitted their nominations for the secretary and treasurer positions, respectively.
This finally brings to a close all speculations about probable candidates for the high-profile secretary and other offices. While there was a strong mention of Anil Patel for the secretary’s position, Nathwani’s name had also been listed in the SGM (Special General Meeting) draft electoral survey, putting all speculation regarding BCCI’s leadership appointments to rest.
Leadership Changes: A Step Forward for Indian Cricket

The appointments of Saikia as secretary and Bhatia as treasurer signify a complete overhaul in the administration of the BCCI. While Jay Shah is moving into his new role as ICC Chairman, BCCI has made sure to keep the continuity at the top through the appointment of Devjit Saikia. Saikia, who had been the interim secretary, will officially be responsible for the board’s day-to-day operations and its strategic decisions going forward.
On the financial front, Prabhtej Bhatia is expected to bring his expertise to the treasurer’s office. With his experience in managing cricket administration in Chhattisgarh, Bhatia is poised to manage the financial interests of one of the world’s richest cricket boards.
BCCI’s Future Under New Leadership

These changes set the BCCI up for the next phase of its administration. With Indian cricket on the ascendency in both domestic and international fields, it will be up to the new leadership team to ensure that all aspects of the game run as smoothly as possible, resources are utilized effectively, and Indian cricket continues to enjoy success on all fronts.
The appointments of Saikia and Bhatia are considered strategic steps towards bringing stability to the organization, especially after the recent transition at the helm of the ICC. How their leadership would shape the future of Indian cricket is something to watch out for in the coming years, as it is riddled with key challenges and opportunities.
Consequently, the present change in the BCCI seems well within expectations: Saikia will now steer the board, and Bhatia its finances. With these individuals in place at the helm of affairs, everything will be on course for this new era ushered in with new leadership under fresh faces in this board’s administration.
