BCCI Reversed Decision Before The Border Gavaskar Trophy
BCCI reversed it’s decision of conducting an intra-squad match ahead of Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Border Gavaskar Trophy– India and Australia are all set to face each other in a 5-match Test series, but cricketing authorities have seen a significant change ahead of the series. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had already announced that the team would not play any intra-squad or practice matches before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
This followed India losing the Test series to New Zealand, where Rohit was quoted as saying that the team would then have to have more additional practice sessions than intra-squad games.
The reversed decision of BCCI ahead of Border Gavaskar Trophy

Well, this is after all that stance, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now gone on to reverse its own decision. Reports indicate that the Indians will play a three-day intra-squad match starting November 15, a week before the opener of the series. However, this practice match is going to take place behind closed doors, with no groundsmen allowed to enter.
To add, neither are the stadium staff going to be permitted to use their phones and create videos of the match at their behest, which tends to bring out the seriousness attached to the session.
Arrival of the Indian Team in Australia and Preparations for Border Gavaskar Trophy

As the first Test in Perth is to take place, the Indian squad has now reached Australia and prepared themselves. Though the practice session has officially begun by the side, all players weren’t available on the first day. Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah were missing from the session, while KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant were seen in an optional session, ahead of the series that was about to begin.
Rohit Sharma Not Available and Probable Changes in the Playing XI
Another big news is that Rohit Sharma will not be present for the first Test match. The Indian captain reportedly awaits the birth of his second child and it has a good chance that he will not play the opening Test of the series. In Rohit’s absence, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are likely to open the batting for India in the first Test.

It is instructive to see the UPA hierarchy change their plan to have an intra-squad game just a few days ahead of the series, thereby blowing away some match practice going into the Australia tour. And with Rohit Sharma most likely to sit out the first Test and fringe players like Yashasvi Jaiswal in the mix, it could well be the opening Test in Perth which goes down as the turning point for India in their approach to the series.
