Big Bash League 2022: The Winners of the League till Date

The Big Bash League has over the years managed to present excellent teams and their wonderful performances. Since its inception, eight city-based franchise teams are said to take part in this competition. Based on records, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers have managed to achieve the maximum number of wins till now. Therefore, it will be exciting to watch if the teams can retain their previous form or lose to other contenders. The upcoming edition of Big Bash League is scheduled to take place in the month of December. Check out the list of all the winners and runners-up of the Big Bash League:
- Champion of BBL (2011-12)
The 2011-12 season of Big Bash League, which was also the inaugural BBL season was achieved by Sydney Sixers. The Sydney Sixers team was, however, led by Steven Smith being then captain. And, team Perth Scorchers which was led by Marcus North finished the league as runners-up.
- Champion of BBL (2012-13)
The next season was won by the Brisbane Heat, which is further said to be the team’s maiden BBL title. The team, Brisbane Heat was, however, led by then captain, Chris Hartley during that season. Moreover, Perth Scorchers finished as runners-up during that season too.
- Champion of BBL (2013-14)
The third season of Big Bash League was achieved by the Perth Scorchers. After completing as the runners-up for two times, the team finally managed to lift the trophy in that season. According to reports, the team was led by Simon Katich. And Hobart Hurricanes managed to finish as runners-up on that season.
- Champion of BBL (2014-15)
The team Perth Scorchers went on to register the second BBL title to their names this season. The team was, however, led by Adam Voges in this season. And the Sydney Sixers finished as runners-up.
- Champion of BBL (2015-16)
In the fourth BBL season, the Sydney Thunder managed to achieve the title under the captaincy of Mike Hussey. The match was being played between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars, and the Melbourne Stars managed to finish the game as runners-up.
- Champion of BBL (2016-17)
The following BBL season was, once again, achieved by the Perth Scorchers. This time, they successfully managed to defeat the Sydney Sixers. However, Jhye Richardson is said to have registered the player of the match award to his name, as a result of his 3/30 in 4 overs.
- Champion of BBL (2017-18)
The sixth BBL season was, however, won by the Adelaide Strikers, and the match was played between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes. At that time, Adelaide Strikers was led by then captain, Travis Head.
- Champion of BBL (2018-19)
Team Melbourne Renegades successfully went on to register the seventh BBL season to their names. During that season, Aaron Finch was the captain of Melbourne Renegades. And Melbourne Stars managed to finish the competition as runners-up.
- Champion of BBL (2019-20)
The eight BBL season was achieved by the Sydney Sixers. However, this was the team’s second BBL title, and they played under the captaincy of Moises Henriques. The team successfully defeated the Melbourne Stars in the final.
- Champion of BBL (2020-21)
Sydney Sixers went on to achieve the BBL title for one more time during the 2020-21 season. As per reports, this happened to be their third BBL title. Moreover, they competed against the Perth Scorchers during that season.
- Champion of BBL (2021-22)
The eleventh edition of Big Bash League was, however, won by the Perth Scorchers. The team went on to defeat the Sydney Sixers in that season. The team seemed to have bounced back after being defeated by Sydney Sixers in the 2020-21 season.
