In a major setback for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), their captain and star wicketkeeper-batsman, Sanju Samson, has been ruled out of the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Samson will miss the 36th match of IPL 2025 between RR and LSG at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, April 19.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain, Sanju Samson, has been ruled out of the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) due to an abdominal injury. He picked up the injury in the previous match against Delhi Capitals.
Samson opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal while chasing the target and looked in good form. He played aggressively but was forced to retire hurt.
He scored 31 runs off 19 balls before the injury occurred. It happened during the sixth over when he attempted to cut a delivery from Vipraj Nigam and missed. Samson immediately clutched his left side around the rib area and received treatment from the physio. On the next ball, which was a free hit, he hit it to long-off but was in severe pain and had to leave the field.
Riyan Parag is leading Rajasthan Royals in place of Sanju Samson, who is out with an injury. Parag had also captained earlier due to Samson’s finger injury.
At the toss, Parag announced 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi will replace Samson, making history as the youngest IPL debutant. There’s no timeline yet for Samson’s return.
