There have been twelve seasons of the Big Bash League and Perth Scorchers have won it the most time. They have won the trophy 5 times. The umpires in the Big Bash League earnings are based on the sponsorship tags on their uniforms. This is very different from other leagues like IPL where the season salary is fixed regardless of the sponsorship tags on the uniform. The BBL is one of the most popular T20 league in the world with players coming from almost every cricket playing nation.

In the BBL, umpires play a crucial part in ensuring that the games are fairly played. Umpires are responsible for overseeing the game and inspecting the field, the playing surface, and the equipment used during the game.

There are three salary levels for the umpires. The entry level umpires either earn AUD 15,000 per season or AUD 7,500. These umpires earn AUD 350 for every match they stand in. These entry level umpires hold contract with league development authorities. The umpires who complete their developmental contract of 2-3 years get professional contract.

The elite umpires due to their advantage of being experienced in the field earn AUD 25,000.

The highest paid umpires are the elite umpires in the BBL. These umpires are Gerard Abood, Shawn Craig, Phil Gllespie, Nathan Johnstone, Donovan Koch, Sam Nogajski and Bruce Oxenford. These umpires are paid the season salary of AUD 25, 000 in the BBL.

Some of the umpires that are included in AUD 15,000 salary category are Mike Graham-Smith, Simon Lightbody, Paul Wilson, and Ben Treloar.

Out of these umpires Gerard Abood has officiated in most matches. Abood has stood in as an umpire in 96 matches. Second on this list is Mike Graham-Smith, who has officiated in 82 matches.
