IPL 2025: RCB picks Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani as Ngidi’s replacement – here’s all you need to know

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have added Zimbabwe’s fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani to their squad for the rest of IPL 2025. He has replaced South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, who has returned home for national duties.

Ngidi will be part of the South Africa team for the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023-25, where they will play against Australia at Lord’s in London. The match starts on June 11, but the team is travelling early to prepare.

Ngidi played just one match for RCB this season. He took 3 wickets in that game with an economy of 7.50. Now RCB has signed Blessing Muzarabani as his replacement for ₹75 lakh. Muzarabani will be available to play from May 26.

Blessing Muzarabani is a right-arm fast bowler all all-format player from Zimbabwe. He has played 12 Test matches, 55 ODIs and 70 T20Is so far and now he is ready for the IPL.

In Tests, he has taken 51 wickets in 19 innings with an average of 21.84, including 3 five-wicket hauls. In ODIs, he has 69 wickets with an average of 32.12. In T20Is, he has picked up 78 wickets with an economy of 7.03.

Muzarabani made his international debut in 2017 and has been a regular player for Zimbabwe since then. He has not played in the IPL before.

Has Muzarabani played T20 leagues before?

Yes, Muzarabani has played in many T20 leagues like the PSL, ILT20, and CPL, but this IPL 2025 is gonna be his debut season. He has played 118 T20 matches in total and taken a total of 127 wickets with a 7.24 economy rate.

Now that he’s joined RCB, it will be interesting to see how he performs in the IPL. He brings pace, height and international experience and will finally get his IPL debut this season.
