IND vs AFG: India To Host Afghanistan For One Test And Three ODIs In June 2026

The much-anticipated IND vs AFG bilateral series will occur in June of 2026, as Afghanistan visits India for one test match and three ODIs. This series is expected to be exciting given how both teams have been preparing for their busy schedules, and this will be only the second time these two teams have ever played a Test match.

IND vs AFG Test Match 2026 – Date, Venue & Key Details

Dates: June 6–10, 2026

Venue: New Chandigarh

The match between the Indian and Afghanistan cricket teams, is to be played in New Chandigarh at the upcoming Test Match, however, the match will not count towards the ICC World Test Championship 2025/27 points table at all.

This will be just the second Test Match to ever occur in India in June within the entire history of Cricket, the first was in 2018 where India beat Afghanistan by 262 runs (very convincingly). The 2018 test match is the only time India and Afghanistan faced each other in a test match.

IND vs AFG ODI Series 2026 – Full Schedule

The matches after the Test series will comprise a three-match ODI series played across three venues in India:

1st ODI: June 14 – Dharamsala

2nd ODI: June 17 – Lucknow

3rd ODI: June 20 – Chennai

This will be the first-ever bilateral ODI series between the Indian national cricket team and the Afghanistan national cricket team.

Earlier, the matches between the Indian national cricket team and the Afghanistan national cricket team in the 50-over format took place during multination events such as the Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup.

Series Timing: Packed International Calendar

The IND-AFG series is set to kick off just six days after the culmination of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final, which is scheduled for May 31.

The short turnaround makes this the first assignment for the Indian team after the T20 World Cup.

For Afghanistan, the Indian tour follows a home assignment against Sri Lanka in the UAE, where they will face Sri Lanka in three T20Is and three ODIs.

After the AFG series, the Indian team will face another stern test in a white-ball assignment against England from July 1 to July 19, which comprises five T20Is and three ODIs.
