IPL 2025: Players Delhi Capitals Are Likely To Retain
Players Delhi Capitals Are Likely To Retain In IPL 2025: Before the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions, the league made new rules about players. Teams can keep up to six players, including five experienced players and two inexperienced players.
The auction budget is INR 120 crore, and the total salary cap is INR 146 crore. For the first time, players will get paid INR 7.5 lakhs for each match. Overseas players must sign up for the auction, and there will be penalties if they drop out after being picked.
Delhi Capitals finished sixth in the IPL 2024 points table under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy. Despite a tough season, players like Axar Patel shone brightly. The team is expected to retain Pant as captain and include Jake Fraser-McGurk on their retention list due to his strong batting performance.
Meanwhile, in an interaction with IANS, Parth revealed, “Yes, we definitely have to retain. We have some very good players in our team. The rules have just come out, so after discussing with GMR and our director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, decisions will be made. Rishabh Pant will definitely be retained.”
“We also have Axar Patel, who is excellent, Criston Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Abishek Porel, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, all very good players in our team. We’ll see what happens in the auction. But first, as per the rule, we can retain six players. After discussions, we will proceed with the auction and see what happens…”
IPL 2025: Players Delhi Capitals Are Likely To Retain
Rishabh Pant:
Rishabh Pant is expected to be the top retention choice for Delhi Capitals, despite rumors of him joining Punjab Kings. As the franchise’s highest scorer, he scored 446 runs last IPL with a strike rate of 155.80. At 26, he combines excellent wicketkeeping, batting, and leadership skills.
Jake Fraser-McGurk:
The 22-year-old Australian batter is an exciting option for the early overs, showcasing explosive batting skills. In just nine innings, he has scored 330 runs at a striking strike rate of 234.
Kuldeep Yadav:
The Indian Chinaman bowler is enjoying the best form of his career. Alongside Axar Patel, he has been a key player for Delhi Capitals in the middle overs. As the top T20 bowler for India, it’s unlikely DC will let him go in the auction.
Abhishek Porel:
After Pant and Stubbs, Abhishek Porel is the other wicketkeeper-batter in the DC squad, though he has yet to debut for the Indian national team. A versatile batter, he could be a valuable uncapped option for the retention list.
Axar Patel:
The 30-year-old all-rounder has taken 123 wickets and scored 1,653 runs in the IPL. His outstanding performances in the T20 World Cup have further highlighted his value as an all-rounder.
