Who Will RCB Retain Ahead Of The IPL 2025 Mega-Auction: The Indian Premier League (IPL) governing body recently announced its new player retention rules ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, which is scheduled to be held later this year.

The new IPL retention rules state that each franchise may use Retentions and the Right to Match (RTM) options to keep up to six players. The quantity of foreign players that can be kept is unlimited. A maximum of five capped players and a maximum of two uncapped players may be retained by each side.

Virat Kohli:

Batting maestro and former RCB captain, Virat Kohli is a clear choice to stay with the team. The sensational batter has played his entire career with RCB and has often said he wants to retire there. He has been one of the top performers of the team for several years now.

Mohammed Siraj:

Mohammed Siraj is a key player for RCB and one of Kohli’s most trusted teammates. He might be chosen again to lead the bowling attack. Even though he didn’t have his best season, Siraj was one of RCB’s top wicket-takers in IPL 2024.

Anuj Rawat:

Anuj Rawat scored only 98 runs in five matches last season, but he’s still seen as a top young talent. Recently, he impressed in the Delhi Premier League, scoring 356 runs in 10 matches with a high of 121. Since uncapped players can be retained for Rs 4 crore, RCB should consider keeping him, especially now that Dinesh Karthik has retired. It’s a good chance to develop a strong wicketkeeper-batter.

Rajat Patidar:

Rajat Patidar has been a key player for RCB, scoring 799 runs at an average of 34.74 and a strike rate of 158.85. His skill against both pace and spin makes him a valuable asset. Given his strong performance, RCB is likely to reward him with a lucrative deal, retaining him as their second-capped player.

Will Jacks:

RCB brought in Will Jacks as a backup for Glenn Maxwell, who had strong seasons earlier but struggled in IPL 2024, scoring only 52 runs in 10 matches and even being benched. In contrast, Jacks had a great season, scoring 230 runs in eight games with a strike rate of 175.57 and taking two wickets. Given Maxwell’s form and injury issues, RCB should consider investing in Jacks, who is a key player for England and could be in line for a test spot.

Yash Dayal:

Yash Dayal’s fortunes changed when he joined RCB last season. He became the joint-highest wicket-taker for the team, helping him move on from the tough memory of being hit for five sixes by KKR’s Rinku Singh the year before.
